Oxidálását

Oxidálását is the Czech word for oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that involves the loss of electrons by a molecule, atom, or ion. In many cases, this loss of electrons is accompanied by an increase in oxidation state. This process is often contrasted with reduction, which is the gain of electrons. The term oxidation was originally coined to describe reactions where a substance combined with oxygen, but its meaning has since been broadened to encompass any reaction where electrons are lost.

Oxidation and reduction reactions always occur together and are collectively known as redox reactions. One species loses electrons (is oxidized), and another species gains electrons (is reduced). Common oxidizing agents include oxygen, halogens, and peroxides, which readily accept electrons. Conversely, common reducing agents like alkali metals and hydrogen tend to donate electrons.

The concept of oxidation is fundamental in chemistry and plays a crucial role in numerous natural and industrial processes. This includes the metabolism of food in living organisms, the rusting of iron, the combustion of fuels, and various electrochemical processes like battery operation and electroplating.
