Overseers

Overseer is a term used to describe a person who supervises others, directing work, enforcing rules, and ensuring quality and safety. The word appears in a variety of contexts, from industrial and agricultural supervision to religious governance. In workplace settings, an overseer or foreman is responsible for directing tasks, coordinating teams, monitoring performance, and reporting to higher management.

Historically, overseers have been employed to manage labor in different industries. In plantation systems in the Americas, an overseer managed enslaved workers and enforced discipline.
