Overflatervitenskap
Overflatervitenskap, also known as flat Earth theory, is a pseudoscience that posits that the Earth is flat rather than an oblate spheroid. This theory challenges the widely accepted scientific consensus that the Earth is an oblate spheroid, meaning it is mostly a sphere but slightly flattened at the poles and slightly bulging at the equator. Proponents of the flat Earth theory often argue that various phenomena, such as the curvature of the Earth, cannot be observed due to the Earth's size and the limitations of human perception. They also claim that the Earth's rotation and the apparent motion of celestial bodies can be explained without invoking a spherical Earth. However, these arguments are widely discredited by the scientific community, which maintains that the evidence for a spherical Earth is overwhelming and consistent with well-established principles of physics. The flat Earth theory is often criticized for its lack of empirical evidence and its reliance on conspiracy theories and misinterpretations of scientific data. Despite its lack of scientific credibility, the flat Earth theory continues to gain a small but dedicated following, with various online communities and forums dedicated to its promotion.
