The genus currently contains a single described species, Ostoskanavia laevis. Ostoskanavia is classified within the order Ornithomimiformes, commonly known as "ostrich mimics" due to their superficially bird-like, yet theropod dinosaur, nature.

The fossils of Ostoskanavia indicate a medium-sized animal, with an estimated length of around 2 to 3 meters. Like other ornithomimids, it likely possessed long legs, a long neck, and a small head.
