Oromiffa

Oromiffa is a Cushitic language spoken by the Oromo people, who are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia. It is also spoken in parts of Kenya and Somalia. Oromiffa is the most widely spoken Cushitic language and has a significant number of speakers, estimated to be around 35 million. The language is characterized by its rich oral tradition, including proverbs, poems, and songs.

There are several dialects of Oromiffa, but they are generally mutually intelligible. The language has been written in various scripts throughout history, including the Ethiopic script and the Latin script. Currently, the Latin-based script, known as Qubee, is the most widely used and officially recognized script for Oromiffa in Ethiopia. Oromiffa plays an important role in the cultural and social life of the Oromo people and is increasingly used in media, education, and government in Oromia, the largest region of Ethiopia. Its influence is growing as its literature and media presence expands.
