OrlanMK

OrlanMK is a series of Russian orbital spacecraft designed for scientific research and technological development in space. Developed by the Korolev-based Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, OrlanMK is an evolution of earlier Orlan manned space suits, specifically designed for extravehicular activities (EVAs), commonly known as spacewalks. The primary purpose of the OrlanMK is to provide cosmonauts with a self-contained life support system that allows them to survive and work outside the confines of a spacecraft or space station for extended periods.

Key features of the OrlanMK include its robust construction, designed to withstand the harsh conditions of space, including extreme temperatures, vacuum, and micrometeoroid impacts. It incorporates a sophisticated life support system that regulates oxygen supply, removes carbon dioxide, and maintains cabin pressure and temperature. The suit also provides communication capabilities, allowing the cosmonaut to maintain contact with the ground control and other crew members. OrlanMK suits are equipped with various tools and tethering systems to facilitate complex repair, maintenance, and assembly tasks on the exterior of orbiting platforms such as the International Space Station.
