Ophidiid

Ophidiid refers to any member of the family Ophidiidae, which are ray-finned fishes commonly known as cuskeels or cusk-eels. This family is part of the order Ophidiiformes. Ophidiids are characterized by their elongated, eel-like bodies, often with a tapering tail. They typically possess a continuous dorsal fin and anal fin that merges with the caudal fin. Many species have small, ventrally located pelvic fins, which can be reduced to a single filament.
