Operatiivvõimendit

Operatiivvõimendit, also known as operational amplifier (op-amp), is a fundamental building block in analog electronics and signal processing. It is a high-gain, differential input voltage amplifier with a very high input impedance and a low output impedance. The term "operatiivvõimendit" is derived from the Estonian language, where "operatiiv" means operational and "võimendit" means amplifier.

The op-amp is designed to operate in a linear region, where the output voltage is proportional to the difference between the two input voltages. This makes it ideal for tasks such as signal amplification, filtering, and comparison. The open-loop gain of an op-amp can be as high as 100,000 or more, but it is typically used in closed-loop configurations to achieve specific gains or other desired characteristics.

There are several types of op-amps, including general-purpose op-amps, instrumentation amplifiers, and specialized op-amps for high-speed or low-power applications. The performance of an op-amp is characterized by parameters such as gain, bandwidth, slew rate, input offset voltage, and input bias current.

Op-amps are widely used in various applications, including audio amplifiers, data acquisition systems, and control systems. They are also used in the design of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The versatility and high performance of op-amps make them an essential component in modern electronics.
