Omformare
Omformare is a Swedish term that translates to "transformer" in English, specifically referring to an electrical device. Its primary function is to change the voltage of an alternating current (AC) electric supply. This is achieved through the principle of electromagnetic induction. An omformare typically consists of two or more coils of wire, known as windings, wound around a common iron core. When an AC voltage is applied to one winding (the primary coil), it creates a fluctuating magnetic field in the core. This changing magnetic field then induces a voltage in the other winding (the secondary coil). The ratio of the number of turns in the primary coil to the number of turns in the secondary coil determines the voltage transformation ratio. If the secondary coil has more turns than the primary, the voltage is stepped up; if it has fewer turns, the voltage is stepped down. Omformare are crucial components in electrical power systems, enabling efficient transmission of electricity over long distances by stepping up voltage and then stepping it down for safe use in homes and industries. They are also found in various electronic devices for voltage regulation and adaptation.
