Ojutais

Ojutais is a fictional archipelago created for speculative fiction and worldbuilding. It comprises eight inhabited islands and numerous islets located in the northern seas of its imagined continent. The islands are linked by ferries, coastal roads, and seasonal trade winds, while surrounding waters are known for strong currents and shifting reefs.

The largest islands are Ojut and Nara; others include Silek, Varo, Kest, Lomar, Tiri, and Merin. The terrain varies from volcanic highlands and basalt cliffs to mangrove swamps along sheltered bays. The climate is maritime temperate, with mild summers and wet winters. The archipelago hosts endemic species such as the wind-swept palm and blue-littoral fish, and seabirds nest on cliffs and offshore stacks.

Historically, Ojutais was settled by seafaring communities known as the Outai, with later contacts from neighboring polities. The archipelago developed a distinctive creole language and a tradition of boatbuilding and knotwork. In modern fiction, it is depicted as an autonomous political entity within a regional federation, with its own constitution and cultural council.

Economy centers on small-scale fishing, seaweed farming, artisanal crafts, and eco-tourism. Governance relies on a council-based system with a rotating chair and an appointed Governor who represents the archipelago in the federation. Cultural life emphasizes maritime festivals, music, storytelling, and navigational lore preserved through generations.
