Ofu
Ofu is a small island located in the Manu'a Islands group of American Samoa. It is the easternmost island of American Samoa and is situated about 4 miles (6 km) west of Olosega. The island is volcanic in origin and has a lush, tropical interior. The main settlement on Ofu is the village of Ofu, which lies on the southern coast. A portion of Ofu and its surrounding waters are part of the National Park of American Samoa, protecting its coral reefs and diverse marine life. The island has a small population, primarily engaged in subsistence fishing and agriculture. Access to Ofu is typically by small aircraft, with a landing strip on the island, or by boat. The culture of Ofu is deeply rooted in Samoan traditions, with communal living and strong family ties playing a significant role in daily life. The natural beauty of Ofu, including its pristine beaches and clear waters, makes it a destination for ecotourism, though development is minimal to preserve its natural state.
