Offerten

Offerten is the plural form of the German noun Offerte, meaning a price quotation, bid, or proposal provided by a supplier to a potential customer. Outside standard German, the term Offerte is common; Offerten is primarily used in Swiss German and, to some extent, Austrian German. In standard German, Angebot is more common.

In business practice, Offerten are used in procurement and tender processes. Buyers invite suppliers to submit Offerten for defined goods or services; the process can be formal (tender) or informal (quote request). The goal is to obtain competitive pricing and terms.

A typical Offerte includes details such as item or service description, quantities, unit prices and total price, delivery or performance schedule, payment terms, validity period, terms and conditions, and any exclusions or assumptions.

The legal status of an Offerte depends on jurisdiction and wording. A clearly bound offer becomes legally effective when accepted by the buyer, forming a contract; an Offerte can also be non-binding if it is stated as for information only or subject to change.
