Oddfrequency

Oddfrequency is a term used in signal processing and telecommunications to describe a signal whose frequency is an odd multiple of a fundamental frequency. For example, if a fundamental frequency is denoted as f, then odd frequencies would be 3f, 5f, 7f, and so on.

This concept is particularly relevant in the context of harmonic distortion. When a pure sinusoidal signal is distorted, it can generate harmonics, which are frequencies that are integer multiples of the fundamental frequency. If the distortion mechanism is such that it produces only odd harmonics, then the resulting signal is said to contain an odd frequency spectrum.

Odd frequencies can arise in various electronic circuits and systems. For instance, certain types of amplifiers and mixers, particularly those that exhibit non-linear behavior, can introduce odd harmonic distortion.
