OEMtillverkning, or Original Equipment Manufacturer manufacturing, refers to the practice where a company manufactures products or components that are then branded and sold by another company. This second company, known as the brand or private labeler, does not typically manufacture the goods themselves but instead contracts with an OEM to produce them according to their specifications. The OEM's product is then sold under the brand name of the contracting company.

This business model is prevalent across numerous industries, including electronics, automotive, fashion, and furniture. Companies utilize OEM manufacturing for various strategic reasons. It can allow them to bring products to market faster, leverage specialized manufacturing expertise they may not possess in-house, or reduce their own production costs. For the OEM, it provides a consistent stream of business and allows them to focus on their core manufacturing competencies.

The relationship between the brand and the OEM is crucial. Clear contracts outlining product specifications, quality control standards, intellectual property rights, and delivery schedules are essential for a successful partnership. The OEM is responsible for the actual production, ensuring the product meets the agreed-upon standards, while the brand handles marketing, sales, distribution, and customer service.
