Nýjalska

Nýjalska is a historical term used to refer to New Iceland, a region in present-day Manitoba, Canada, that was settled by Icelandic immigrants in the late 19th century. The initial wave of settlement began in 1875, primarily around Lake Winnipeg. The immigrants sought new opportunities and a place to preserve their language and culture.

The early years in Nýjalska were challenging, marked by harsh winters, unfamiliar diseases, and the need to establish a new society from scratch.
