Növénycsoportok, or plant groups, are categories used to classify plants based on shared characteristics. These groups help botanists organize and study the vast diversity of plant life. The most basic grouping is the kingdom Plantae, which includes all plants. Within this kingdom, plants are divided into several major groups, each with distinct features.

One of the primary divisions is between vascular and non-vascular plants. Vascular plants have specialized tissues for transporting water and nutrients, while non-vascular plants lack these tissues. Vascular plants are further divided into two main groups: seed plants and seedless vascular plants. Seed plants, or spermatophytes, produce seeds and include gymnosperms and angiosperms. Gymnosperms are seed-bearing plants with naked seeds, such as conifers, while angiosperms are flowering plants that produce seeds enclosed in fruits.

Seedless vascular plants, or lycophytes and ferns, reproduce using spores rather than seeds. Non-vascular plants, or bryophytes, include mosses, liverworts, and hornworts, which lack true roots, stems, and leaves. These plants reproduce through spores and are often found in moist environments.

Each of these groups has further subdivisions based on characteristics such as growth form, reproductive structures, and ecological adaptations. Understanding these plant groups is crucial for studying plant evolution, ecology, and conservation.
