Népszavazásokat

Népszavazásokat translates to referendums in English. A referendum is a direct vote by the electorate on a particular proposal or policy, often a law or constitutional amendment. In Hungary, népszavazásokat can be initiated by the government, a quarter of the Members of Parliament, or through a petition signed by at least 200,000 voters. For a referendum to be valid, a minimum turnout is required, which is typically 50% of eligible voters. If this threshold is met, the outcome is binding.
