Næsebenene

Næsebenene, also known as the nasal bones, are two small, oblong bones that form the bridge of the nose. They are located in the upper part of the face, just below the frontal bone and between the orbits. Each nasal bone is roughly quadrilateral in shape and articulates with several other bones of the skull.

The superior border of each nasal bone articulates with the nasal part of the frontal bone. The medial borders of the two nasal bones are joined together at the midline, forming the internasal suture. The inferior border of each nasal bone articulates with the cartilage of the nose. Laterally, each nasal bone articulates with the frontal process of the maxilla.

These bones are quite thin and are covered by the periosteum and the muscles of facial expression. They provide protection for the nasal cavity and contribute to the overall structure and appearance of the face. Fractures of the nasal bones are common, particularly as a result of trauma to the face, and can lead to deformity and difficulty breathing through the nose. The size and shape of the nasal bones can vary between individuals, contributing to differences in facial features. They are a fundamental component of the human facial skeleton.
