Næringsstofflow refers to the movement and transformation of nutrients within an ecosystem. These nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon, are essential for life and cycle continuously through the environment. The flow involves uptake by organisms, transfer through food webs, and eventual release back into the environment through decomposition.

In aquatic ecosystems, nutrient flow is often driven by factors like water currents, precipitation, and human activities.
