Nålmålere

Nålmålere, also known as needle gauges or pin gauges, are precision measuring tools used to determine the size of small holes or the diameter of wires. They consist of a set of hardened steel rods or pins, each ground to a precise and known diameter. These pins are typically arranged in a set from smallest to largest, often in increments of 0.01mm, 0.02mm, or 0.001 inches.

To use a nålmåler, one selects a pin from the set and attempts to insert it into the hole or around the wire being measured. The largest pin that can freely pass through the hole, or the smallest pin that can fit snugly around the wire, indicates the dimension. Alternatively, for wire measurement, the smallest pin that the wire cannot pass through can also be used to determine its diameter. Precision is key, and the pins are manufactured to very tight tolerances.

Nålmålere are commonly found in machining, engineering, and manufacturing environments where accurate measurement of small features is critical. They are particularly useful for checking the tolerance of drilled holes, the diameter of small shafts, or the gauge of wires. Their simplicity and direct measurement make them a reliable tool for quick and accurate assessments. They are often stored in a protective case to maintain their accuracy and prevent damage.
