Näytöntekniikka refers to the technological advancements and methods used in creating and displaying visual information on screens. This encompasses a wide range of fields, from the fundamental principles of how light is emitted or manipulated to the complex circuitry and software that drive modern displays.

Historically, early display technologies included cathode ray tubes (CRTs), which used electron beams to illuminate phosphors on a glass screen. These were bulky and consumed significant power but dominated the market for decades. The development of flat-panel displays marked a significant shift.
