Näppäinryhmät refers to distinct sections or clusters of keys found on a keyboard. These groups are organized based on their function and location, aiding users in efficient input and navigation.

The most prominent näppäinryhmä is the character or typing area, which contains the alphabetical keys, numerical keys, and various punctuation marks arranged in standard layouts like QWERTY or DVORAK. Adjacent to this is the numeric keypad, a dedicated block of numbers and mathematical operators typically found on the right side of full-sized keyboards, mirroring a calculator's layout.

Another significant näppäinryhmä consists of the function keys, usually located at the top of the keyboard, labeled F1 through F12 or higher. These keys perform specific software-dependent commands. The navigation keys form another group, including arrow keys for cursor movement, and keys like Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down for document scrolling.

Modifier keys, such as Shift, Ctrl, Alt, and the Windows/Command key, are also considered a näppäinryhmä due to their role in altering the function of other keys when pressed in combination. These groupings are fundamental to keyboard design and user interaction, optimizing the typing experience by placing related functions together.
