Nährstofflösung refers to a liquid mixture containing essential mineral nutrients required for the growth of plants. These solutions are crucial in soilless cultivation methods such as hydroponics and aeroponics, where plants do not have access to nutrients from soil. The composition of a nutrient solution is carefully balanced to provide macro- and micronutrients in appropriate ratios. Macronutrients include elements like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, which are needed in larger quantities. Micronutrients, required in smaller amounts, include iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron, and molybdenum.

The specific formulation of a nutrient solution can vary depending on the type of plant being grown, its growth stage, and the environmental conditions. For instance, plants in their vegetative phase may require a higher concentration of nitrogen, while flowering or fruiting plants might need more phosphorus and potassium. Maintaining the correct pH level is also vital for nutrient uptake by the plant roots. Typically, nutrient solutions are prepared by dissolving concentrated mineral salts in water. The concentration is often measured using electrical conductivity (EC) or total dissolved solids (TDS) meters. Regular monitoring and adjustment of the solution's composition are necessary to ensure optimal plant health and yield.
