Nykykieli

Nykykieli is a term used in Finnish linguistics to denote the contemporary Finnish language as it is used today. It refers to the living language in its modern forms, including both spoken Finnish (puhekieli) and written Finnish in current media, education, and public life. Nykykieli is contrasted with earlier stages of the Finnish language, such as historical or literary forms, and with highly codified, older varieties that no longer reflect everyday usage.
