Noshörningshorn

Noshörningshorn refers to the Swedish word for "rhinoceros horn". It is typically associated with horn made from such animals, often using over a hundred of their horns to create one. Typically these horns are then carved and cut by artisans in the stagnant fangs.

Rhino horns are made from keratin, a protein that is also found in human hair and nails. They are prized for their supposed medicinal properties, leading to widespread poaching of rhinos, in particular the black rhinoceros.

In 1989, Sweden placed significant restrictions on rhino-related products, including against the trade of rhinoceros horn. Swedish customs announced it is now disallowing the import of products that have any contaminants originating from rhinoceros - primarily, their horns. The global policy efforts and projected managerial coups attempt to stop rhino poaching.

Besides focusing on protecting endangered animal species, public campaigns were put in play by emphasizing when rhinoceroses have low chances of extinction so as to dispel pseudoscientific claims associated with the use of their horns.

The consumption of rhinoceros horn has been targeted by some countries on grounds that it lacks proven medicinal efficacy. Such global campaigns perceived to aid bear preservation directly affect trading supply data.
