NorseProtoGermanic
NorseProtoGermanic is a hypothetical reconstructed language, an ancestor believed to have given rise to the North Germanic languages such as Old Norse, Icelandic, Faroese, Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish. It is a subdivision of the proposed Proto-Germanic language, which in turn is an ancestor of all Germanic languages, including West Germanic (English, German, Dutch) and East Germanic (Gothic). Linguists posit NorseProtoGermanic to explain the common innovations and shared features found in the North Germanic branch that are not present in the other Germanic branches.
The reconstruction of NorseProtoGermanic is based on comparative linguistics, analyzing sound correspondences, grammatical structures, and vocabulary
