Nominalisoinnilla is a linguistic term used in Finnish to describe nominalization, the process of turning verbs and other parts of speech into nouns or noun phrases. In Finnish, nominalisointi is productive and widely used to shape meaning, syntax, and emphasis. The most common realization is suffixation with -minen to form action or event nouns from verbs: kirjoittaa -> kirjoittaminen (the act of writing); syödä -> syöminen (the act of eating).
