Nietbezorgratio

Nietbezorgratio is a metric used in logistics and operations research to quantify the share of orders that are not delivered within a defined time frame. The term blends Dutch niet (not) and bezorgen (to deliver) with ratio, signaling a measurement of non-fulfillment.

Calculation and scope: It is defined as the number of undelivered items in a period divided by the total number of orders in that period. Depending on convention, undelivered might include orders that were lost, returned, canceled, or delayed beyond the target window; canceled orders may be excluded if the analysis treats them as non-fulfillment rather than failure to deliver.

Example: In a week with 300 orders, 6 were not delivered in time or at all, yielding a nietbezorgratio of 0.02.

Applications and interpretation: The metric is used in dashboards and performance reviews for logistics networks, e-commerce operations, and supply chains. It supports trend analysis and benchmarking across routes, carriers, or depots.

Relation to other metrics and limitations: Nietbezorgratio complements service level, on-time delivery rate, and fill rate; it is the counterpart to the on-time delivery share. It is sensitive to the chosen time window and definitions of “undelivered,” and it may obscure root causes if used in isolation.
