Ngapuhi
Ngāpuhi is a Māori iwi (tribe) of Aotearoa New Zealand, based primarily in the Northland region (Te Tai Tokerau). It is the largest iwi by population in the country. The Ngāpuhi rohe covers much of Northland, including the Hokianga and Bay of Islands areas and extending to Whangārei.
The social structure consists of numerous hapū (sub-tribes) and whānau, with marae serving as cultural and social
Historically, Ngāpuhi maintained extensive networks for trade and alliances with other iwi and with Pākehā settlers
In modern times, Ngāpuhi remains a major contributor to Māori and national politics, culture, and education.
