New Zealand is an island country located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It comprises two main landmasses, the North Island and the South Island, and a number of smaller islands. The country is known for its diverse and stunning natural landscapes, including mountains, glaciers, fjords, beaches, and geothermal areas. Wellington is the capital city, and Auckland is the largest city.

The indigenous Māori people are the original inhabitants of New Zealand, and their culture and traditions are an integral part of the nation's identity. New Zealand is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. The country is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and has a strong international reputation for its environmental policies and peace initiatives. Its unique flora and fauna, including the kiwi bird, are also notable features.
