Nestekaasuna

Nestekaasuna refers to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used in its liquid state. LPG is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases, primarily propane and butane, that are stored and transported under pressure in a liquid form. This liquefaction allows for a significant reduction in volume compared to its gaseous state, making it convenient for storage and transportation.

When the pressure is released, nestekaasuna readily vaporizes into a flammable gas, which is then used as a fuel source. Common applications include domestic cooking and heating, powering vehicles (autogas), and as a refrigerant. Its portability and relatively clean burning characteristics make it a popular alternative to other fuels.

The process of liquefying LPG involves cooling the gases to below their boiling points or increasing the pressure. Storage tanks are designed to withstand the internal pressure required to keep the fuel in its liquid state. Safety considerations are paramount in the handling and use of nestekaasuna due to its flammability and potential for rapid expansion upon vaporization.
