Nekroucené is a Czech word that translates to "necrosis" in English. Necrosis is a form of cell death that occurs in living tissue. It is an irreversible process resulting from factors such as injury, infection, or lack of blood supply. Unlike apoptosis, which is programmed cell death, necrosis is typically a pathological event.

When cells undergo necrosis, they swell and their membranes rupture, releasing their contents into the surrounding tissue. This release can trigger an inflammatory response, leading to further damage and pain. Necrosis can affect individual cells, small groups of cells, or entire tissues and organs.

Several factors can lead to necrosis. Physical trauma, such as burns or crushing injuries, can cause immediate cell death. Infections, particularly bacterial or fungal infections, can also induce necrosis by releasing toxins or damaging tissues directly. Ischemia, the reduction or complete loss of blood flow to a tissue, is a common cause of necrosis. Without adequate oxygen and nutrients, cells cannot maintain their functions and die. Certain toxins and poisons can also cause necrosis.

The appearance of necrotic tissue varies depending on the cause and the affected tissue. It can appear pale, brown, or black and may be soft or firm. The symptoms associated with necrosis depend on the location and extent of the damage, but can include pain, swelling, loss of function, and discoloration. Treatment for necrosis focuses on addressing the underlying cause and managing the symptoms. In some cases, surgical removal of necrotic tissue may be necessary to prevent complications.
