Necromundan

Necromunda is a fictional hive world in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It is a planet completely covered by a single, gargantuan city, known as a hive. The population of Necromunda numbers in the trillions, with the vast majority of its inhabitants living in the lower levels of the hive, known as the Underhive. These levels are dark, polluted, and dangerous, rife with criminal gangs and monstrous creatures.

The upper levels, known as the Spire, are home to the planet's ruling elite and the wealthy inhabitants. They live in relative luxury, oblivious to the struggles of those below. The hive's economy is based on the extraction of valuable resources, primarily adamantium and promethium, which are vital to the Imperium of Man.

Necromunda is a place of constant conflict. Numerous gangs vie for territory, resources, and survival in the Underhive. These gangs often engage in brutal warfare, using a variety of crude but effective weaponry. The Ecclesiarchy and the Adeptus Mechanicus also have a strong presence on the planet, controlling religious and technological matters respectively. The planet's unique environment and the desperate lives of its inhabitants make it a popular setting for tabletop games and stories within the Warhammer 40,000 setting.
