Nayakas
Nayakas were a group of Hindu warrior chieftains who rose to prominence in southern India from the 14th to the 18th centuries. They often served as provincial governors or military commanders under larger empires, most notably the Vijayanagara Empire. As the Vijayanagara Empire weakened, many Nayakas consolidated their power and established independent or semi-independent kingdoms.
