Navigointisatelliittijärjestelmän
Navigointisatelliittijärjestelmän, often referred to by its Finnish acronym NAS, is a crucial element of modern global positioning. These systems rely on a network of satellites orbiting the Earth to transmit signals that receivers on the ground can interpret to determine their precise location. The principle behind this technology is trilateration, where the receiver calculates its distance from multiple satellites based on the time it takes for their signals to arrive. By knowing the position of at least four satellites, a receiver can accurately pinpoint its three-dimensional coordinates (latitude, longitude, and altitude) and also the current time.
The most well-known navigointisatelliittijärjestelmän is the Global Positioning System (GPS), operated by the United States. Other
