Natriumfeldspaat

Natriumfeldspaat, also known as sodium feldspar, is a group of tectosilicate minerals that contain sodium and aluminum in their structure. It is a common constituent of igneous rocks, particularly granite, and is also found in some metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The most common members of the natriumfeldspaat group are albite (NaAlSi3O8) and anorthoclase (NaAlSi3O8-KAlSi3O8).

Natriumfeldspaat is characterized by its white to gray color, vitreous luster, and perfect cleavage in two directions. It has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5 and a specific gravity ranging from 2.62 to 2.76. The mineral is stable at high temperatures and pressures, making it a significant component in the formation of igneous rocks.

The term "feldspar" comes from the German word "Feldspat," which means "rock breaker." This name was given because feldspars were used as a source of potassium and sodium compounds in the production of glass and ceramics. Today, natriumfeldspaat is still an important industrial mineral, used in the production of glass, ceramics, and as a filler in the rubber industry.

Natriumfeldspaat is also significant in the study of petrology and geochemistry. Its presence and abundance in igneous rocks provide valuable information about the conditions under which the rocks formed. The ratio of sodium to potassium in natriumfeldspaat can be used to determine the temperature and pressure conditions of magma crystallization.
