Naalakkersuisut

Naalakkersuisut, meaning "the government" in Greenlandic, is the executive branch of Greenland's government and the cabinet that implements policy in the semi-autonomous Danish realm of Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat). It operates within the framework of the Self-Government Act of 2009, which expanded Greenland's autonomy from Denmark. The Naalakkersuisut is led by the Premier, who is the head of government and is usually the leader of the largest party in the Inatsisartut, the Greenlandic Parliament. The Premier appoints a cabinet of ministers who head government departments such as finance; education, culture and church; health; social affairs; environment and energy; fisheries, hunting and agriculture; industry, minerals and trade; justice and public safety; and self-government. The cabinet is collectively responsible to the Inatsisartut, and ministers may be dismissed or replaced following parliamentary support.

Elections to the Inatsisartut determine the composition of the government; the term of the parliament is four
