NDTmenetelmä refers to a Non-Destructive Testing method. These methods are used to evaluate the properties of a material, component, or system without causing damage. The primary goal of NDT is to detect defects or discontinuities that might affect the performance or safety of the item being inspected. NDT methods are crucial in various industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, construction, and power generation, to ensure quality and prevent failures.

Common NDT methods include visual inspection, where trained personnel examine the surface for visible flaws. Ultrasonic testing uses sound waves to detect internal flaws and measure thickness. Radiographic testing employs X-rays or gamma rays to create an image of the internal structure. Magnetic particle testing is used for ferromagnetic materials to detect surface and near-surface cracks. Liquid penetrant testing reveals surface-breaking defects by applying a dye that seeps into any discontinuities. Eddy current testing uses electromagnetic induction to detect surface and near-surface flaws in conductive materials.
