In phrases with a definite article in the dative plural, as in “in den nächsten Tagen,” the same -en ending is used. In some contexts, the capitalized noun form “Nächsten” may be used to mean “the next person” or “the next one,” functioning as a noun rather than an adjective, though this usage is far less frequent than the adjectival form.
