Mímis

Mímis is a figure from Norse mythology, primarily known for his association with wisdom and the well of Mímisbrunnr. He is often depicted as a wise and ancient being, a guardian of this sacred spring. The well itself is said to be located at the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil, a place of great cosmic significance.

According to the myths, Mímisbrunnr holds waters that bestow great knowledge and understanding upon those who drink from it. Odin, the chief god, famously sought this wisdom. In exchange for a drink from the well, Odin sacrificed one of his own eyes. This act of self-mutilation highlights the immense value placed on the wisdom Mímis and his well offered. Mímis is also sometimes described as the uncle of Odin.
