Mäntämekanismin
Mäntämekanismi refers to a piston mechanism, a fundamental component in many machines, particularly engines and pumps. At its core, a mäntämekanismi consists of a piston that moves back and forth within a cylinder. This reciprocating motion is key to its function. In internal combustion engines, the mäntämekanismi converts the chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy. Combustion of the fuel-air mixture inside the cylinder creates high pressure, pushing the piston down. This linear motion is then typically converted into rotational motion by a connecting rod and crankshaft.
In pumps, the mäntämekanismi serves to move fluids. As the piston retracts, it creates a low-pressure area
