Myslovitz

Myslovitz is a Polish alternative rock band formed in Kraków in 1992. The original lineup consisted of Mariusz Wilk (guitar and lead vocals), Michał Cieślak (guitar), Tomasz Szukalski (bass), and drummer Michał Kwiatkowski. The group drew influences from 1980s British new wave and contemporary Polish rock, and they quickly gained a reputation for melodic songwriting and atmospheric production.

Their debut album, *Nieistniejąca* (1994), introduced a quiet‑intensity style that resonated with Poland’s post‑communist youth. The follow‑up, *Gdzie to Ty* (1996), reached the top of the national charts and produced the hit single “Gdzie to Ty.” In 1997 the band received its first Fryderyk award for Best Rock Album. Subsequent releases such as *Miłość w czasach popkultury* (2002), *O czym warto pamiętać…* (2005), and *Opowieści o pilocie* (2007) solidified their standing as a mainstream force while maintaining an experimental edge.

Myslovitz’s popularity extended beyond Poland; they toured extensively in Europe, shared stages with international acts, and received airplay on MTV Europe. Their live performances were noted for dynamic arrangements and the etching of their songs into the national music psyche. Noted tracks include “Korczak,” “Skałka,” and “Na Wspólnej.”

In June 2014 the band announced an indefinite hiatus after 22 years. A reunion was confirmed in December 2016, and since then they have released new material, most recently the 2022 single “Optymist.” The group continues to be celebrated for its lyrical depth, melodic sensibility, and contributions to the evolution of contemporary Polish rock.
