Myanmarerne

Myanmarerne refers to the people of Myanmar, also known as Burma. Myanmar is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia. The country is incredibly diverse, with over 135 officially recognized ethnic groups. The largest and most dominant ethnic group is the Bamar, who historically gave the country its anglicized name "Burma." Other significant ethnic groups include the Shan, Karen, Rakhine, Mon, Kachin, and Chin peoples, each with their own distinct languages, cultures, and traditions.

The majority of Myanmar's population practices Buddhism, with Theravada Buddhism being the most prevalent form. However, there are also significant Christian, Muslim, and Hindu minorities. The country's history is marked by periods of royal rule, colonial influence by the British, and a long history of military rule following independence in 1948. This complex past has shaped the social fabric and identity of Myanmar's people.
