Muurahaiskoloniat

Muurahaiskoloniat, or ant colonies, are highly organized social structures composed of thousands to millions of individual ants. These colonies are typically centered around a reproductive female, the queen, whose primary role is to lay eggs. The majority of the colony consists of sterile female workers, who perform all the necessary tasks for the colony's survival and reproduction. These tasks include foraging for food, defending the nest, caring for the young (eggs, larvae, and pupae), and expanding or maintaining the nest structure.

The social organization within a muurahaiskolonia is often characterized by a division of labor, where different groups of workers may specialize in specific tasks. This specialization can be based on age, size, or even genetic predisposition. The colony functions as a superorganism, where the survival and reproduction of the individual ants are subordinate to the interests of the colony as a whole.
