Multivariés

Multivariés is a term used in statistics and data analysis to describe situations involving multiple variables. When analyzing data, researchers often encounter datasets that contain more than one characteristic or measurement for each observation. These characteristics are referred to as variables, and when there are two or more such variables considered simultaneously, the analysis is deemed multivariate.

Multivariate statistical methods are employed to understand the relationships and patterns that exist among these multiple variables. Unlike univariate analysis, which focuses on a single variable, or bivariate analysis, which examines the relationship between two variables, multivariate analysis aims to uncover complex interactions and structures within datasets containing many variables. Examples of multivariate techniques include principal component analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression, and cluster analysis. These methods are crucial in fields such as economics, biology, psychology, and machine learning for making predictions, classifying observations, and reducing the dimensionality of data. The primary goal is to extract meaningful insights from data that would be obscured if variables were analyzed in isolation.
