Moolifraktio

Moolifraktio, often represented by the symbol x, is a dimensionless quantity used in chemistry and physics to express the concentration of a component in a mixture. It is defined as the ratio of the number of moles of a particular component to the total number of moles of all components in the mixture. The formula for the mole fraction of component A in a mixture is given by:

x_A = n_A / (n_A + n_B + n_C + ...)

where n_A is the number of moles of component A, and the denominator represents the sum of the moles of all components in the mixture.

The sum of the mole fractions of all components in a mixture will always equal one. This property makes mole fraction a convenient unit for expressing relative amounts. For example, if a mixture contains only two components, A and B, then x_A + x_B = 1. Mole fractions are independent of temperature and pressure, unlike some other concentration units such as molarity.
