Monégasque
Monégasque refers to a person or thing connected with Monaco. This can include the citizens of the Principality of Monaco, their language, or their culture. The official language of Monaco is French, but the indigenous Monégasque language, a Romance language derived from Ligurian, is still spoken by a small number of people. Monégasque culture is influenced by its French and Italian neighbors, as well as its long history as a sovereign principality. The principality itself is a small city-state on the French Riviera, known for its luxury tourism, casino, and Formula One Grand Prix. Monégasques, as citizens, enjoy a high standard of living and are known for their strong sense of national identity. The term can also be used in a broader sense to describe anything originating from or pertaining to Monaco, such as Monégasque cuisine or Monégasque law.
