Montoyas

The Montoyas are a rhythm and blues band from Cuba that gained international recognition in the 1990s. Formed in Havana in 1993, the group consists of lead vocalist Olga Daymes, guitarist Edgar Montoya, and bassist Sammy Garcia.

The Montoyas' music style is a unique blend of rock, pop, and Cuban folk influences, with lyrics that often address social issues and everyday life. Their debut album, "Son de Cuba", released in 1996, received critical acclaim and helped establish the band's reputation as a prominent force in Cuban music.

In 1997, the Montoyas released their first English-language album, "Rebelion", which gained international attention and led to the band performing at the 1997 Vina del Mar International Song Festival in Chile. The album's success also earned the band a nomination for a Latin Grammy Award.
