Monopersulfate

Monopersulfate, also known as Caro's acid or peroxymonosulfuric acid, is a chemical compound with the formula H2SO5. It is a strong oxidizing agent and a strong acid. It exists as a colorless solid or as a solution in water. Monopersulfate is an unstable compound and is usually prepared in situ or used in the form of its salts, such as potassium monopersulfate triple salt (2KHSO5·KHSO4·K2SO4). This salt is a widely used, convenient, and stable source of monopersulfate.

The primary applications of monopersulfate stem from its potent oxidizing properties. It is employed as a disinfectant and sanitizer in various settings, including swimming pools, spas, and industrial water treatment.
