Mongolled

The term Mongolled refers to the process or outcome by which Mongol rule, culture, and institutions extended across parts of Eurasia in the 13th and 14th centuries, and to the adoption or integration of Mongol practices by non-Mongol polities. It is not a standard term in all historiography.

The concept encompasses political integration (administrative practices, taxation, military organization), legal and religious tolerance, and cultural exchange (trade, manuscript copying, art). It is associated with the expansion of the Mongol Empire and its successor states: the Yuan in China, the Ilkhanate in Persia, the Golden Horde in Russia, and the Chagatai Khanate in Central Asia. It may involve the spread of the Mongol language in administration, and the diffusion of goods and technologies along the Silk Road.

In scholarly use, Mongolled can offer a compact term for transregional processes but risks implying a uniform Mongol imprint where local conditions or coexisting cultures played significant roles. Some researchers prefer Mongolization or more specific descriptors of each region. The term remains a contested label rather than a standardized category, useful as a heuristic when discussing cross-empire influences, governance, and cultural exchange.
